A $3 million contract for structural upgrade to roof and refurbishment of the top floor of the 40-year-old civic administration centre in the Townsville CBD was awarded by the Townsville City Council.  The contract marked the first major upgrade of the centre’s roof since it was opened in 1976.

The building is currently being used for local government administration, meetings, functions and civic ceremonies and has been used for four decades.

The scope of the project included a considerable amount of structural work on the building’s roof system, including the replacement of the roof, and refurbishment of the second floor.
